I just arrived home from work. I must keep this quick, so I can go to bed.
<WILL POST MORE LATER!>
Later the same night...
What a night! I had SO MUCH FUN TONIGHT, and I am so grateful that myself and my co-workers/friends had this window of opportunity to come together for a night of laughs and positive energy. I was a little worried that I wasn't going to have enough energy to sustain me through the party because I literally woke up at 12: 54 PM this afternoon. Don't ask me the reason because I honestly couldn't tell you.
My mind was telling me that I had to wake up, while my body wanted to stay asleep. I have to say, though, it was not my phone that woke me up. I am surprised by this because I didn't hear my phone alerting me to the twenty-some unanswered text messages that I had waiting for me. I had to do a double-take to make sure that I was reading the number correctly on my text messaging app. All of the unanswered text messages were from the group text of my party guests making last minute decisions before coming over to my house. When I realized what was happening, I sent out my own reply to the group:
Tonight, I was really happy to have people over. Kersey was in charge was preparing the most delicious meal of falafel with some kind of cabbage salad on the side. On top of preparing dinner, he even made dessert, which were éclairs. I had no idea that he was planning on bringing dessert because I went ahead and purchased a variety cheesecake. Oh well! Kersey's dessert was a huge hit, except for me. I am not a fan of pastries with gooey custard filling. Give me fruit or chocolate, but not custard. Bella and Peggy brought over a variety of snacks to eat, on top of the meal. There was definitely a feast at our table, which is always great to have and to share with friends. I feel incredibly blessed to have been included in such an activity. Today is a day to remember on those days that turn gray and sorrowful.
After we all ate, we played some games. I played a card game for the very first time, tonight, called Cards Against Humanity. I could NOT STOP LAUGHING, it was that unbelievably hilarious. For those of you who may not be familiar with the game, look it up. It's definitely a card game for adults. When I saw "adults", I am saying a specific kind of adults who like raunchy humor. I'll be honest, I couldn't read off some of my cards because the language was too much for me. There are certain words and phrases that I am just not comfortable saying out loud. Regardless, we all played for two straight hours before stopping. Evan won the game, which surprised me because I thought Peggy was sure to win with all of her very inappropriately funny responses.
After playing Cards Against Humanity, we all gathered around in the living room area to play Kersey's Oculus VR (Virtual Reality) game that he brought over. At the last dinner party, I only lasted like five seconds after the round started. The VR game that we played was called Beat Saber. The best way that I described this game, to another person, was that it's essentially Dance Dance Revolution but with light sabers. I played, again, tonight. I was actually able to get through an entire round without dying...well it was on the super easy setting.
After the great food and games, the night had to come to an end at some point. Shortly before 10:00 PM, Kersey and his girlfriend departed. Bella and Peggy stayed, so I could give them a ride back into Portland. I ended up driving Bella back to her home, and Peggy went with me to work. I would have gladly driven Peggy to her home but we would have had to leave a lot sooner because Peggy lives out in the far parts of Portland.
Tonight was a great night. It was definitely one for the books. I hope all of my fellow night owls had a wonderful Wednesday night. I wish you all many blessings and happiness. Let us fill the darkness of the night sky with stars that is our positive energies.
