Happy Independence Day, my fellow night owls. I hope you all are having the best day. For those of you who live in the Portland Metro Area, please be mindful to not shoot off fireworks and keep your pets inside. I know that the 4th of July isn't quite the same without fireworks. However, right now, Oregon is dealing with massive heat and dry weather. Last year, during the late summer months, Oregon was basically on fire. Unfortunately, these fires serve as a warning that global warming is real and the weather patterns in this state are drastically changing. To me, I would rather spend the holiday without fireworks than have fireworks with a state consumed in fire.
I, myself, had a low-key holiday. Today, I thought that it would be a great day for some self-care. This morning, I dyed my hair a lighter blonde. After dying my hair, I decided to get dressed up in patriotic colors, and I even put on some makeup. After I was dressed and the makeup was on, I decided to take some selfies. It has been a while since I posted pictures of myself, and that is because I despise having my picture taken. I want to step out of my comfort zone, so I decided to take a chance and take some pictures of myself. I really don't like my pictures. That is because I don't like the way that I look. This is the truth, and it's not something that I am proud of. I wish that I wasn't so self-conscious and had such low self-esteem. I really, really want more self-confidence.
This afternoon, as a gesture of self-care and celebrating this special day, I also went out for a nice lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. I am obsessed with the Cheesecake Factory. I don't eat there very often, so it is a great treat to have on a special occasion such as today. The rest of the day was pretty normal, except for Evan attempting to clean out the gutters. That was just a near death experience waiting to happen, since he has never done this before at this house. Let me just say, it was not a very successful endeavor. Thankfully, Evan was not hurt at all. He just was not able to stay on the ladder long enough to clean the gutters. It's okay because we will be trying this, again, at a later time. We also completed some other chores around the house. In between chores, we took breaks by watching movies. Today, I watched two different movies: the new Bill & Ted Face The Music and Ophelia. Truth be told, I liked Ophelia more than the Bill & Ted movie because the Bill & Ted movie was an Evan movie choice. Ophelia was my movie choice, and I ended up watching it by myself, while Evan left the room to play on his computer.
