Who else, other than me, is extremely excited that 2020 is officially over? I don't know about you, but one year of 2020 felt like a decade long year. I am not quite sure which chaotic event, in 2020, was worse: COVID-19 (total deaths/quarantine/job losses/drop in economy/increase in mental health and substance use concerns), the wildfires, the hurricanes, the continued racial injustices around the country, the murder hornets, and/or the 2020 election. The answer is: ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Now that the tragedy that was 2020 is now over, what's to come in 2021? My response has been: PLEASE, DEAR GOD, HAVE 2021 BE A BETTER YEAR THAN 2020!!! Someone posted the most hilarious quote on Instagram, and I had to re-post on all of my social media platforms (pictured above) because it was the perfect declaration for the new year.
What goals would you like to accomplish in 2021? I know that having "New Years Resolutions" is such a cliché, but having goals are still necessary. If anything, right now, having goals is essential because having something to continue to fight for and accomplish allows for a much-needed distraction and break from the depressed state of the world. We all need a break from the doomscrolling and helplessness feeling of not being able to do much to change all of the negativity around you.
